The Fauxharmonic Orchestra is made up of digital orchestral instruments, which can and have been mistaken for the “real thing.” In 2009 the Fauxharmonic Orchestra held a worldwide concerto competition for newly composed works. Brian Fennelly’s Sinfonia Concertante took 1st Prize, which included the opportunity to have the winning work recorded by "live" soloists with the Fauxharmonic Orchestra.
In 2012 this hybrid recording was created. The orchestral parts were prepared. Madalyn and Cicely, for whom the work was composed, then recorded the duo solo parts in Albany NY at The College of St. Rose, with Grammy Award-winning recording engineer, Dan Czernecki, composer Brian Fennelly, and the Fauxharmonic Orchestra conductor, Paul Henry Smith, on-hand. The orchestral tracks and live tracks were combined for the final product!
