On February 4th at 4:00pm the 8-hour "Music of Now Marathon" curated by Artistic Director Laura Kaminsky began! Madalyn performed three new works during the 9-hour concert, her first performance of "Ribbon" for solo violin by Timothy Dunne received a very enthusiastic response from the audience in the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Hall. In Madalyn's second performance she was a member of the IU Latin American Music Center ensemble, which is made up of young artists from the Jacobs School of Music, all with emerging national careers: Sharon Harms, soprano; Madalyn and Timothy Kantor, violin; Rose Wollman, viola; and Cicely Parnas, cello. This deeply moving work entitled "Baalkah," is a composition for soprano and string quartet written by Gabriela Ortiz. A piece by Bernadette Speach for violin and toy piano was nearly the final piece of the evening. This lovely work entitled "altrove/elsewhere" was performed by the composer and Madalyn. This is truly an invigorating event filled with lots of eclectic repertory. Click here to read more!
