CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE

A Baroque orchestra, composed of members of the Albany Symphony Orchestra and Saint Rose faculty and students, was directed by Maestro David Alan Miller in a concert presented at the Massry Center for the Arts on April 15, 2010. Violinist Madalyn Parnas '10 in her final year at Saint Rose was the featured soloist in both Autumn and Winter from Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5. Madalyn, violinist and senior Kelly Diehl '10, and sophomore Cicely Parnas joined the orchestra for Elgar's Serenade for Strings, John Corigliano's Voyage, and Mozart's beloved Eine Kleine Nacht Musik. The supply of superlatives used to describe this event seemed inexhaustible! Clapping throughout this immensely well-received concert could be heard with a thunderous ovation and cheering at the close of the Brandenburg, which featured harpsichordist Greg Hayes and flutist Floyd Hebert along with Madalyn. This surely is a bittersweet farewell to the Saint Rose family as Madalyn and Cicely prepare to begin the Artist Diploma program at IU Jacobs School of Music.
